That's where Kitty Brew Cat Cafe comes in.

In the cafe on Tylersville Road in Mason, you'll find locally roasted coffee on one side -- and adoptable cats on the other.

Co-owner Jenni Barrett says business is booming.

"It’s incredible," Barrett said. "I didn’t even want to guess how many we would adopt out but I would have never in a million years thought 400 cats would have a home."

Kitty Brew customers pay $10 to spend 50 minutes in the cat lounge. The coffee shop serves baked goods and free-trade coffee that can be consumed in the lounge. (But, no, the kitties don't wander around the kitchen or help brew the coffee.)

If you make a "love connection" with a cat, the folks at the cafe can help you adopt.

"Hopefully at the end you take a cat home, but if not the socialization they get is invaluable," Barrett said.

The cats at the cafe come from Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton, SNIP in Fairfield, Paws Cause in Franklin, Hart Animal Rescue and His Hands Extended Sanctuary, Barrett said. The cafe does not accept cats directly.

Jennifer Miller was the 398th person to adopt a cat at the cafe.

"It’s a very stress-free environment," Miller said. "And who wouldn’t want to just grab a cup of coffee and play with cats?"
